Fear of change is something that I regularly come across in my personal and working life. I, myself, am guilty of it too. However I am currently embarking on a massive change in my professional life and leaning into that discomfort. 

After many years working in international academic internships in the Study Abroad arena, I'm moving outwards to work with individuals, businesses and other organizations who are intent on making meaningful changes. I’ve taken lots of courses and certifications to move into the realm of coaching and to further my work in helping intercultural understanding. I'm very pleased to announce that one of my main focuses will be the Immunity to Change program.

I’ve recently become a certified facilitator of Immunity to Change Mapping and I’m so excited to see what this new career will bring me, and my clients. It’s all about leaning into our fear of change and working on our unconscious blockages.  

WHAT IS IMMUNITY TO CHANGE?


Published in 2009 by Professor Robert Kegan and Lecturer Lisa Lahey, Immunity to Change focuses on how so many people fail to achieve their goals – no matter how motivated they are. Their book helps with a step-by-step plan of identifying your sticking points such as the following:

  1. Identify your goal 
  2. What keeps you from achieving that goal? Define what actions you take that contradict your goal: it could be negative self-talk or control issues. 
  3. What are your hidden mindsets that are stopping you reaching your goal? 
  4. Identify underlying assumptions. This is the lense through which we see the world and is very hard to change.

The last stage is the hardest part to work through and Lisa explains that it can take around a year for us to re-learn habits and change the way we think about things. Which is why using a trained coach is worth it. We never will achieve those elusive goals and affect real change in our lives if we don’t put the work in.

By qualifying as a facilitator to Immunity to Change mapping, I can really help you on the whole journey. Sometimes we don’t even know what our goal is, we just know that we’re unhappy in our current life.
