Maintain authentic relationships with Cutting The Ties That Bind
Almendra Staffa-Healey

Is there a certain person or thing that always triggers you when they slip into your mind? Obvious examples are an ex-partner, friend or toxic work colleague. However it might be a family member who you really love but who just seems to get under your skin for all the wrong reasons, or even your teenage (or adult) child who you wish were more independent. What if I told you there was a solution to this? A way to let go of that person or thing’s influence over you? Well that’s just what Cutting The Ties That Bind is all about.

The technique was invented by Phyllis Krystal and she first released a book about it back in the 1980s. The idea is to get in touch with your Higher Consciousness which will guide you through the process. The method is based on using time used symbols and visualization that leads to greater confidence and independence. My mom, Mandy Staffa, was fortunate enough to meet Phyllis and learn the technique from her. And she inspired me to learn about Cutting The Ties That Bind myself.

One of the symbols is the "Figure Eight" which is used as a way of separating your energy from that of the person/symbol you’re trying to detangle from. In the work with Cutting the Ties That Bind I will introduce you to other symbols you can practice and use everyday to feel more grounded and secure in your decision making processes and interactions. It’s crucial that a lot of work is put into the visualization parts of the technique - and it can take a while to get into the habit of working on mental images. But it is SO worth it!

"This method helps people to change themselves. And the world is made up of people. And so when individual human beings change in big enough numbers – that automatically will change the world..."
Phyllis Krystal

Once it’s the moment to make the cut, I will gently talk you through the process. And what is often surprising to people is just how emotional that moment is. Tears are often shed and an enormous feeling of release is felt. It can take a few days to shift into a calmer perspective but the experience of Cutting The Ties That Bind is so powerful and life-shifting that you could find yourself wanting to repeat it with a different person/symbol soon.

So why do I use the word ‘symbol’? Because sometimes, when we connect to our Higher Consciousness (or High-C)  to ask which ties we should cut, we are shown a symbol rather than a specific person. Now that symbol could represent an old job, patterns of behavior that no longer serve you, or a concept that you struggle with. It could be an attitude, an unhealthy habit or an old belief system which is holding us back from being our true, authentic self. Once released from these old patterns, our relationships tend to improve - as we make room for unconditional love in our hearts. Cutting The Ties That Bind means that we let go of the many knots that are binding us.

Moreover, the beauty of the practice is that we get to discard the negative aspects of our relationships and just maintain the authentic ones. Plus many people report unexpected messages from the person they are trying to unbind from. And as Phyllis Krystal herself said, "This method helps people to change themselves. And the world is made up of people. And so when individual human beings change in big enough numbers – that automatically will change the world, because eventually the “Positive Forces” will outnumber the negative ones – and more and more people will be free." So if you want to play your part in healing the world, why not take the first step in healing yourself?

Please note that we'll be launching online sessions of Cutting The Ties That Bind from the end of April 2024. And I'm delighted to announce that my mom, one of the original group  facilitators of the technique, will be joining me in a supporting role. Details about how to register will be posted soon. Reach out to me for more information.
